Central Indiana home sales up more than 13 percent in January

Inventory tightens by 15.3 percent; nine counties experience drop in available homes for sale

INDIANAPOLIS – More than 1,500 homes pended in January, with all but three Central Indiana counties reporting increased sales compared to the same time period last year, according to statistics compiled by F.C. Tucker Company. Overall, January 2012 pended home sales rose 13.4 percent over January 2011, an increase of 181 homes sold in the nine counties that F.C. Tucker tracks. 

“As we move deeper into the new year, we anticipate that sales will continue to increase for the first six months of the year,” said Jim Litten, president of F.C. Tucker Company. “But it’s likely the market may slow a little toward the second half of the year while consumers take a wait-and-see approach pending the outcome of the upcoming presidential election.”
