A Bit of History

The Project School was founded in 2009 by a group of passionate public educators who wanted to do something different, something that would empower students to achieve individual growth. They opened the doors with a five-year charter and a long waiting list. Thanks to support from the Bloomington community, the school sits on a city-owned property on Walnut Street. In the first few years of its existence, the facilities were greatly improved. Today, it is a truly modern institution.

Track Record

The school consistently places extremely high in statewide measurements. In every year since its inaugural year in 2009, The Project School has placed in the top 2% of Indiana schools with the two most recent years resulting in “A” designations from the Indiana Department of Education. In addition to these accolades, a contract renewal in 2014 ensures the continuation of the project for the remainder of the decade.
