The city of Sturgis is full of rich history dating to the 19th century. Back in 1827, a judge by the name of John Sturgis settled in the St. Joseph Valley area. As one of the first settlers of the village, Judge Sturgis became one of the first postmasters as well. Both the city and the township were named after the judge and to this day, the City of Sturgis maintains the site of his original home that can be visited at Pioneer Park.

This is a city that loves its history, but it has all modern amenities you’d expect from a happening small city. The city of Sturgis has two sister cities in the world; Wiesloch, Germany, and Bombala, Australia.
