If you think Halloween is mere trick-or-treating, prepare to be surprised. In honor of the spook-tacular day we thought we would put together a list of a variety of adult Halloween events happening in Indy.
- Frightful: Silent Halloween (October 26 [Friday], 7pm-10:15pm) – If you are all about silent movies, this is definitely the event for you. The Indiana Landmarks Center is hosting Silent Halloween, an event that features scary movies, live creepy organ music, lighting, a costume contest, and, of course, adult beverages. Guests get to view two silent films, Frankenstein and Frankenstein: The Man Who Made a Monster. The first film will even be accompanied live by University of Indianapolis musicians!
- Haunted Hair Ball (October 27 [Saturday], 8pm-12am) – The Haunted Hair Ball affectionately calls itself, “THE most epic Halloween Party of 2018.” The historic Rathskeller restaurant serves as host, providing, “appetizers, drinks, dancing, entertainment, a costume party, prizes, games and much more!” The Hair Ball proceeds will go to Spay-Neuter Services of Indiana, a financial assistance organization supporting 265 shelters and rescue groups. Their goal is to make all shelters zero kill.
- A Hogwarts Feast (October 26 [Friday], 6pm-8pm) – Do you wish you would have received a letter to attend Hogwarts? This may be your chance! Tina’s Traditional Old English Kitchen is hosting their fourth annual “A Hogwarts Feast!” Be prepared for the sorting hat, pumpkin juice, and lots of Harry Potter-themed food. There will be prizes for the best dressed, so pull out those old broomsticks and embrace the wonderful world of wizardry!
- HOWL-O-WEEN Run 5k (October 27 [Saturday], 11am-2pm) – Metazoa Brewing Company is hosting the HOWL-O-WEEN Run as a part of the INDIANA Brewery Running Series. Runners will get the chance to run through the area around Metazoa Brewing and get a free beer at the end as well as a seasonal swag item. It is imperative that runners know one thing – costumes are highly encouraged. The race even starts and ends at the Brewing Company!
- Scary Movies Trivia (October 30 [Tuesday], 5:30pm-7:30pm) – What a better way to celebrate the time of Halloween than with SCARY MOVIES trivia with Metazoa Brewing. Just a side note – Metazoa Brewing is really killing it with the Halloween-themed activities this year. Admission is free and teams of four are encouraged, but not required. Scary movies not your thing? There are always different trivia nights throughout the week, so be sure to check out their website for more!
- Candlelight Theatre (October 27 [Saturday], 6pm) – If you prefer to celebrate Halloween with theatre, the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site’s Candlelight Theatre series is the place for you. This Halloween, they are doing The (White) House of Horrors, a play all about election years, the White House, and the unliving. These shows are recommended for ages 10+ due to the nature of the content and darkness of the house.
The following events are wonderful and happened to have already passed. The reason we are including them in this article is that you might want to go next year!
- Historic Irvington Halloween Festival Charity Ball (October 20 [Saturday], 8pm-12am) – While this event has already passed, we simply had to include it in our list. Irvington has been hosting this Ball for the last 4 years, but their overall Halloween Festival has been occurring for the past 72 years! This year’s ball was 1920s themed and ball-goers were encouraged to dress in thematic attire. Light appetizers were be provided and there was sure to be a lot of dancing as there was live music by Graveyard Stompers.
- Broad Ripple Zombie Prom (October 20 [Saturday], 8pm) – Similar to the last event, we simply had to include the Zombie Prom on our list, despite the fact it has already passed. The Vogue served as the host for the Broad Ripple Zombie Prom. They like to call this event, “The Ultimate Un-Dead Dance Party.” At the event, there was live music from Fool House and prizes for the Zombie King & Queen. If that was not enough of an incentive, proceeds went to Gleaners Food Bank!
Needless to say, there is plenty to do on Halloween this year – we look forward to seeing you in some ghoulish garb at one of these Indy events
