With Easter right around the corner, many of Indy’s Easter Egg Hunts have already taken place. There is still good news, however, for those that haven’t gotten to one with their kids yet! Here are a few coming up this weekend for you to consider:
Mount Pleasant Christian Church
Southsiders should consider making the trek over to the Mount Pleasant Christian Church Community Life Center on North Bluff Road, just east of IN-37 in Greenwood. This Easter egg hunt is open to all members of the community, whether you attend church there or not! Between 10:00am and 12:00pm, there will be an Easter egg hunt, games, snacks, door prizes and a few other surprises. This event hopes to attract thousands of visitors for 2017, and the Mount Pleasant Christian Church is still in need of volunteers. Any Indianapolis-area residents interested in volunteering can fill out a form on the Mount Pleasant Christian Church’s website.
Lions Club of Zionsville
For the 26th year in a row, the Lions Club of Zionsville will host its annual Easter egg hunt in Lions Park in Downtown Zionsville on Saturday, April 15th. Named the “EGGnormous Egg Hunt,” this popular Easter egg hunt has over 15,000 eggs spread throughout the park grounds. Festivities begin at 9:00am and last until the conclusion of the hunt. At 9:00am, with a small donation, visitors can enjoy a continental breakfast. Also, at this time, visitors can enjoy face painting and pictures with the Easter Bunny. Games with prizes begin at 9:30am, and the Egg Stroll, which is for kids one and two years of age, begins at 10:00am. The main Easter egg hunt begins at 10:30am. There are three different age groups–a hunt for three and four-year-olds, one for five and six-year-olds and finaly a hunt for kids aged seven years and older. Parking is limited at Lions Park, so visitors are suggested to show up early. If parking is unavailable, visitors can park elsewhere in nearby Downtown Zionsville.
Indianapolis Zoo
On both days of the weekend of Easter, April 15th and 16th, the Indianapolis Zoo will host one of the more unique Easter egg hunts in the city. Baskets are not needed for this hunt. Visitors are encouraged to search for at least 10 of the 19 egg pictures hidden throughout the grounds. Guests who find at least 10 pictures win a special prize from the zoo. Elsewhere, there is a special craft session between 11:00am and 2:00pm, and the Commons, one of the zoo’s eateries, has a special Easter-themed snack available for purchase. Admission to these great Easter weekend events is included with a regular zoo ticket. Tickets for adults are $21.45 and $19.95 per person, and tickets for children two to 12 year of age are $16.20 and $15.20 on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Like always, admission for children under the age of two is free.
The Well.Community Center
Parents with children with special needs should consider checking out the Special Egg Event at The Well.Community Center on Pitt Road in Brownsburg. This event is only for children with special needs, and it will be held on the Saturday before Easter. Children can be registered via a quick form on The Well.Community Center’s website. There are three different egg hunt events. The first event, called the “Magnetic Egg Hunt,” is at 3:00pm. This event is perfect for kids who use a wheelchair or a gait trainer. All eggs in this event are magnetized, and they can be picked up with special poles provided to guests. The next Easter egg hunt, the “Quiet Egg Hunt,” is at 4:00pm, and it is ideal for children with autism or special sensor processing needs. This event is designed to be as least stimulating as possible. Finally, the General Egg Hunt is held at 5:00pm. This hunt is perfect with any children with special needs that do not quite fall into the categories of the previous two hunts. Siblings of special needs children can also participate in this event.
Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site
Between 9:00am and 10:30am, people from all over Central Indiana will flock to the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site, the Indianapolis home of President Benjamin Harrison, for the Presidential Egg Roll, modeled after the famous Egg Roll hosted annually at the White House in Washington, D.C. While not technically, a Easter egg hunt, this great event is perfect for kids of all ages. Visitors will roll their eggs through the South Lawn grounds while parents and spectators cheer them on. Admission for this event is free of charge, but it requires registration via the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site website.
Conner Prairie
Weather permitting on Saturday afternoon, Conner Prairie will host four egg hunts for kids of various ages: 2-3 year olds will start at the Festival Grounds at 2 p.m., 4-5 year olds will start at the Festival Grounds at 2:20, 6-8 year olds will start at the Civil War Journey at 2:40, and 9-12 year olds will start at the Civil War Journey at 3. In addition to hunting eggs, children can sort seeds at the Gregorys’ home, dye Easter eggs at the Zimmermans’ and decorate bonnets at the Campbells’. The park will be open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, and the egg hunt is included in the general admission price of $17 for adults and $12 for children 2-12. Jordan YMCA
The Easter Egg Splash at the Jordan Y, 8400 Westfield Boulevard, combines the thrill of an egg hunt with the joy of swimming. The indoor pool is divided by ability level, and children hunt eggs underwater. Eggs are then exchanged for goody baskets. The event runs from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday and costs $5/participant. Everyone is welcome, but you will need to register by calling the Y at 317-253-3206. Why hunt eggs in the grass when you can splash around in a pool?
Zion Lutheran Church
Southeast-siders might want to head to Zion Lutheran Church, 6513 West 300 South in New Palestine, from 10-11:30 a.m. on Saturday for their annual egg hunt. Activities are free and, in addition to the egg hunt, will include crafts, egg races, photos, a petting zoo, snacks and a brief devotional. The egg hunt will take place at 11:15. They plan to wrap up by 11:30 so parents can go home to finish their taxes!
The Caring Place
The Easter egg hunt at the Caring Place, 30th and Post Road, isn’t just about bunnies; it’s also about ponies and free rides. From 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, The Caring Place will host an egg hunt with games, live music, pony rides and lots of free candy.
Annual Bishop Chatard Easter Egg Hunt
Treats, Animals, Easter Bunny, oh my! Stop by the Annual Bishop Chatard Easter Egg Hunt this Saturday, April 15th! Children of all agents are invited to the hunt which begins at 10AM on the front lawn of BCHS. Plan to arrive early and stay late as the fun continues with live animals, games and treats in the gym following the hunt. Don’t forget to bring your own basket!
Hop to the Prop Easter Egg Hunt
The Indianapolis Propylaeum hosts Hop to the Prop, sponsored by the Propylaeum Historic Foundation Outreach Committee. The early bird gets the… EASTER EGG… at this event! The hunt begins promptly at 11:30AM, so arrive early as the Easter Bunny kicks off the hunt you won’t want to miss – Rain or Shine! Reservations are required, but the event is FREE.
Easter Egg Hunt at Northminster Presbyterian Church
HOP on over to the Northminster Presbyterian Church Easter Egg Hunt this Saturday at 10AM! Toddlers – 5th graders are invited to hunt for eggs filled with prizes. Friends and family are welcome, but only if they’re willing to have fun! Bring your basket and bring your biggest smile, because this event will not disappoint. Rain or shine, the event will go on!
Cathedral Easter Egg Hunt
On Saturday, April 15th, the Cathedral Alumni Association is inviting everyone to join them & the Easter Bunny at their annual egg hunt! Kids are to bring their own basket to collect eggs. There will be crafts to be made and games to play! Donuts and drinks will be provided along with lots of other family fun!
