Robin Haplin Young

Real Estate is a second career for me. I have followed local real estate markets where ever I have lived with great interest, but I was officially in business with my late husband, T. Scot Halpin, from 1989 to 2008. We sold his original artwork at top juried art fairs across the country. Unfortunately, he passed away in 2008. The time had come for me to reinvent myself and real estate seemed like a good fit.

My business style is hands-on and detail-oriented, yet easy-going. I am very much a people-person. Having been self-employed since 1989, I know what it takes to keep a ball rolling. I know how to keep lines of communication open. I am a good negotiator. Five years into this second career now, I have solid experience working with both buyers and sellers. To my delight, I find myself loving being a realtor. Loving helping people find the perfect home. Loving helping first-time home-buyers through the challenging hoops one has to jump through to become a homeowner. Loving helping people sell when they need to sell--selling even those challenging listings.

Both the house I grew up in and the house I live in now were built in 1954. I have a tremendous appreciation for the design qualities and sensibilities of the period. I am familiar with both the Historic and Conservation District designations, which many neighborhoods in Bloomington hold.  I was president of the Matlock Heights Neighborhood Association for eight years. During that time, Matlock Heights became the first Mid-Century Modern neighborhood to receive conservation district designation in the state of Indiana.

Outside of real estate, my interests include art and music. I am a painter and fledgling songwriter. I am a certified yoga teacher and have a regular meditation practice. I was a Big Brothers/Big Sisters volunteer for many years. I also served over ten years on the artist committee that produces the Fourth Street Festival of Arts and Crafts—a popular local art fair, with national ranking. I currently co-host bi-weekly Open Mike sessions at the Players Pub, a local establishment with the mission of bringing live music to Bloomington, seven nights a week. Other interests include gardening and issues of sustainability.

Whether you are moving to the area, moving within the area or moving somewhere else, if quality of life is part of the deal for you, please give me a call.
