Fourth of July in Indianapolis

For many people around Indianapolis, today kicks off a 3-day holiday weekend to celebrate the U.S. Independence Day. After weeks of rain, it looks like warm and clear days for the weekend. So if you’re ready to get outside and enjoy Fourth of July events around Indianapolis, we’re listing some our favorite fired-up and patriotic events with fireworks and all.

Things to do in Indianapolis for the Fourth of July:

Parades

Throughout Central Indiana, Hoosiers don’t need to look far for a good Fourth of July parade.

  • Brownsburg Fourth of July Extravaganza. Kick start the Fourth with a good, old-fashioned parade on Indianapolis’ westside in Brownsburg. 10:00 marks the start of a full day of holiday events.

  • CarmelFest. This parade starts out at 10:30 a.m. on July 4 and takes a two-hour tour of Carmel. That’s just the beginning of a full day of activities and holiday fun taking place in downtown Carmel on Saturday. Check out the parade route here.

Fireworks

Fireworks will light up the Indy sky on both Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4. You can join the masses or find a your own spot to watch from a distance—either way there’ll be no shortage of fireworks. Here are a few favorites:

  • Beech Grove. Kick off the weekend with food, fun and fireworks on July 3rd at the Beech Grove Lions club. More info.

  • Freedom Blast. The Indianapolis downtown skyline provides the view, and you get to pick the best spot to watch. Whether it’s Military Park, Victory Field or atop a parking garage, you’ll see Central Indiana’s largest firework show.

  • Geist Reservoir Blast on the Bridge. On July 4 at 5:30 the Fall Creek Bridge over Geist takes the shape of family friendly pre-firework party. Join in the fun.

  • CarmelFest. July 3-4 with fireworks at 9:45 on July 4. Food, games, entertainment take over the Carmel City Center for a holiday festival of family fun. More info.

  • Symphony on the Prairie: Star Spangled Symphony. July 2, 3, and 4 in Noblesville at Conner Prairie. Live and awesomely patriotic music sets the rhythm of fireworks.
