Do you love a good homemade pie?! I mean really who doesn’t? If you’re anything like me, you probably get stuck with bringing a dessert to any family function. Don’t feel like baking? (Also like me.) We’ve got you covered! Below you’ll find several local places that sell delicious, fresh baked homemade pies that you can order and take to your events. The best part, no one has to know you didn’t actually bake it!
My Sugar Pie – Zionsville
My Sugar Pie is an exclusive pie baking business that sells handmade, high quality pies locally, regionally, as well as nationally online. This place is just outstanding. They have over FORTY different kinds of pies!! Just to name a few: Peach Praline, Peanut Butter and Banana Cream, Black Raspberry, Rhubarb, Dutch Strawberry, Sugar Cream Pie, Lemon Meringue, Dutch Peach Blueberry, Chocolate Cream Pie… Is your mouth watering yet?! I know mine is. Prices range from $27 – $34.
Foxgardin Kitchen + Ale – 3 locations – Fortville, Fishers, & Carmel
Foxgardin is known for their fresh, local, made from scratch food as well as their atmosphere. Not only can you get great service, food, music and drinks, you can pick up some truly amazing pies for the holidays! Janes Pies, which are made from scratch by the owners mother, Jane, are simply to die for! This season they are offering Sugar Cream Pie ($26), Bourbon Pecan ($32-my personal favorite), Apple Crumble ($30), and Peanut Butter ($30). These can be picked up at any of their three locations. The deadline to order your pie is Thursday 12/20 and the pickup day is Sunday 12/23 (you can pick the location when you order). If you want to blow your friends/family away at your event this year- Janes Pies will do just that!
Pots & Pans Pie Co. – Indianapolis
Pots & Pans is an Indy bakery serving up artisan seasonal savory and sweet pies that you can order online and pick up at their store on College Ave! I have four words for you – Gingerbread Chocolate Chess Pie – if that doesn’t sound like the best holiday pie ever then I must be crazy! Some other great pies they offer are Sugar Crème Brulee, Maple Pecan, Cranberry Lemon Poppy Seed, and Mocha Ganache. Along with sweet pies they also offer some savory pies such as Beef & Mushroom Pot Pie, Chicken Pot Pie, and a Vegan Pot Pie. Pre-orders must be placed by 12pm each day, two days before your desired pick-up. They are closed on Mondays so keep that in mind!
Gray Brothers Cafeteria – Mooresville
If you haven’t had a pie from Gray Bros., now is the time to do so! This family owned cafeteria-style restaurant has been serving up delicious homemade food since 1944. Now, let’s talk about the most important menu item, the pies! At Gray Bros. you can order and pick up any of their MANY delicious pies. They have fruit pies from Apple, Apricot, Pecan, and Raisin to the very popular Strawberry Pie, topped with mounds of fresh strawberries. They also offer Banana Cream, Chocolate Cream, Butterscotch, Coconut Cream, and Lemon Cream Pie. The prices of the pies range from $15-$18, and you can even place your order and pick up date online!

Anita’s Kitchen – Pendleton
This family owned, small town restaurant absolutely has to be on this list. They have some of the best homemade pies around. At Anita’s in Pendleton, you can get a made from scratch Peach, Cherry, or Blackberry pie for $16 as well as Washington Cream Pie or Peanut Butter Crumb Pie for only $14! They do need some notice in advance so make sure you give them a call soon to order your pie!
Taylor’s Bakery – 2 locations – Fishers & Indianapolis
This is a 4th generation, family-owned bakery that has been in business for over 100 years! You can find Taylor’s Bakery on Allisonville and also on 116th street. For $15 you can purchase a Cherry or Dutch Cherry, Apple or Dutch Apple, Pumpkin, or Key Lime Pie, and for a little extra, you can grab a delicious Pecan Pie ($17.50) to take to your holiday event! Taylor’s Bakery just asks for a 24 hour notice to ensure they can get your pie made in time!
Cake Bake Shop – Indianapolis
This bakery is definitely one to talk about. Owner Gwendolyn Rogers has created a storybook restaurant in a cottage that is simply stunning. The Cake Bake Shop has received many awards for their outstanding desserts, as well as recognition from a large list of celebrities including Indianapolis’s very own Andrew Luck, along with Oprah Winfrey, Robert Irvine, Jim Carrey, Garth Brooks, Paula Abdul and MANY more. Their Apple Crumble Pie was named ‘Best Apple Pie’ by Channel 4’s RTV6 and Martha Stewarts American Made showcased her Cherry Pie! Winter Pies available now feature the Apple Crumble ($52), Peanut Butter Mousse ($64), French Cherry Lattice ($52), Georgia Pecan ($52), French Chocolate Silk ($52), Pumpkin ($52) and Butterscotch Pie ($52). Any one of these pies are sure to be a crowd pleaser at your event!
