If you decide to purchase a home within the Lafayette School Corporation, your child will be fortunate to attend one of these great schools:

Amelia Earhart Elementary School

Located off of South 9th Street, this welcoming elementary institution (Grades K-4) focuses on instilling its students with strong character traits, all inside a learning environment where diversity, achievement, and creativity are wholly encouraged. The school pushes students to work towards college from the moment they step through the door. This is a great school for your child if you live in the southern region of the city.

Glen Acres Elementary School

Thomas Miller Elementary School

Located on Lafayette's west side, Thomas Miller Elementary School carries the philosophy that every child has the ability to learn and should be given the opportunity. With small class sizes and an emphasis on group-based activities, these K-4 students are encouraged to interact with their classmates, solve problems, and think critically.

Edgelea Elementary School

Edgelea Elementary School has also received the distinguished honor of an A rating from the Indiana Department of Education as well as becoming a Four Star School. Edgelea has programs for the Gifted/Talented students that involve learning Mandarin Chinese as well as special programs for learning needs including hearing impaired and Title I programs.

Miami Elementary School

At Miami Elementary School, teachers focus on literacy and math readiness skills.  This K-4 school is also a Title I school, giving students the opportunities to get all help needed to succeed. Miami teachers also know how to keep students engaged with a variety of fun days at school or with incorporating technology into the classroom.

Murdock Elementary School

This K-4 elementary school is located in the heart of Lafayette across from Murdock Park.  Teachers teach to a diverse student body, and being a Title I school allows for teachers and staff to ensure all students get the resources they need to be at grade level or above.  Murdock Elementary also takes advantage of FOCUS (Families Organized within the Community United with Schools), a federally-funded after school program offering homework help and enrichment programs for students.

Vinton Elementary School

Vinton Elementary School divides Grades 1-4 in special groupings called Pods (Kindergarten classes are set up differently). Teachers use a variety of new technology in the classroom, such as tablets and e-readers, to keep students engaged through an array of educational activities. This school is also a Title I school, receiving federal grants toward materials that aid in key reading and math skills.

Sunnyside Intermediate School

At this school serving students in Grades 5-6, Sunnyside Intermediate School has a nationally-recognized PE program. Students also take music, art, health, keyboarding along with their core subjects. Starting the Fall 2014, Sunnyside Intermediate became a 1:1 iPad school, meaning that every student and staff member use iPads as part of the instruction and learning. Because of Lafayette School Corporation’s partnership with China, students also have the opportunity to learn Mandarin Chinese.

Lafayette Tecumseh Junior High School

Right in the heart of Lafayette, this middle school is a proud Purdue Professional Development School partner. Its 7th and 8th grade students get an advanced experience that will prepare them for high school and beyond.  With a wide array of subjects, students here get a well-rounded education including related arts and foreign language.  Tecumseh Junior High also has specialized plans for students who may need extra academic help as well as core classes for those who qualify for the gifted/talented program. Students here also have the opportunity to represent their school in many athletic teams spread throughout the school year as well as many clubs and academic teams.

Oakland High School

Serving Grades 9-12, Oakland High School takes its academics very seriously and prides itself on making their community a better place to live. Oakland teachers believe in giving students a second chance to make better decisions and creating a learning environment that best encompasses all learning types.
