The Mill Creek Community School Corporation is located in the southwestern part of Hendricks County, Indiana. Mill Creek East Elementary
This small, rural elementary school educates students from preschool through 5th grade and is exceptional in terms of community and curriculum. The school’s mission is to show excellence in achievements, attitudes, and actions. Through structured literacy groups, teachers pay special attention to fostering high levels of literacy among students. These literacy groups focus on comprehension, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and phonemic awareness. Students in Grades 4-5 can compete in the Math Bowl, Spell Bowl, and be elected to the Student Council.
Mill Creek West Elementary
Teachers at this elementary school have a goal of developing a best-practice culture of learning and teaching. Students are assessed in Summative and Formative ways. Summative assessments, such as Unit Tests, are conducted to measure how much a student has learned after the completion of a certain lesson. Formative assessments are conducted while a lesson is still being taught, and can include homework and quizzes. Students at this K-5 elementary school also enjoy music, art, physical education, and library time as well.
Cascade Middle School
At this school, students are encouraged to become independent thinkers who strive for excellence over mediocrity. Whenever a student encounters a challenge, he or she is taught to work through it and accomplish something great out of it. Students with an exceptional grade point average can participate in National Junior Honor Society.
In addition to daily curriculum, students, depending on their grade level, can participate in a variety of sports. Students in the sixth grade can participate in cross country, volleyball, swimming, wrestling, and track. Students in the 7th and 8th grades can participate in those sports as well as football and basketball.
Cascade High School
This high school strives to meet the demands of an ever-changing world in a variety of academic and extracurricular approaches. Cascade High School received a commission of “First Class” by the Indiana Department of Education because of its excellent attendance rates and academic proficiency scores.
Known as the Cadets, many athletic programs are available to students: cheerleading, cross country, football, golf, soccer, volleyball, basketball, swimming and diving, wrestling, baseball, softball, and track and field.
