Even though it was in the 80s the first week of October, it really feels like Fall now. This means people are breaking out their jackets, hats and gloves, and eating anything that involves pumpkins, apples, or cinnamon. We thought we would help you out with the apple-part of your Fall festivities by compiling a list of our favorite apple orchards. Here are just a few of our favorite awesome apple-y abodes.
Stuckey Farm Orchard and Cider Mill (Sheridan)
Among the orchards, there is a large divide between the pre-picked apple and the u-pick establishments. Stuckey Farm Orchard and Cider Mill is a u-pick business, meaning one gets to pick their own apples. In fact, they have 27 varieties, so be sure to check out this popular spot!
The Apple Works (Trafalgar)
If you were worried about your apples tart to sweet ratio, have no fear The Apple Works is here! At the Apple Works, they take their apples seriously with over 55 varieties of apples. For each one of these apples, they have a chart rating the apples flavor, ability to be cooked, or eaten.
Conner Prairie Apple Store (Fishers)
So even though this is technically not an apple orchard, we could not simply not include it on the list. The Conner Prairie Apple Store is known for their homemade goodies with everything from apple cider to apple donuts. In fact, they sold 51,960 donuts last year!
Beasley’s Orchard (Danville)
At Beasley’s Orchard, they like to say that they have been, “harvesting memories for three generations.” One thing that makes this farm especially unique is their 8-acre corn maze. This year, Beasley’s Orchard decided to theme the maze around Circle City sports featuring Indy sports teams
Adrian Orchard (Indianapolis)
According to Adrian Orchard’s website, the Orchard is the nearest orchard to the heart of Indiana. If that was not a cool enough reason to go there, the business is also home to the Guinness World Record holder for the “World’s Fastest Apple Picker. Who knew that the award even existed?
Anderson Orchard (Moorseville)
This place takes their apples seriously. Not only do they have an entire orchard and Apple Barn, but they also host the Orchard Dash. Runners get to run through the orchard and of course, get to celebrate apples by enjoying caramel apples, apple cider and apple cider slushies at the end of the race.
Tuttle Orchards (Greenfield)
A 90-year Indiana treasure, Tuttle Orchards is known for its delicious produce and fun fall activities. If you visit the farm, you can go apple picking, visit the Tractor Town Kid’s Area, indulge at Tuttle’s Café & Sweet Shop, venture through a corn maze, and even go on a narrated tractor ride.
Whiteland Orchard (Whiteland)
While Whiteland Orchard is known for its delicious apples and apple cider, it also grows other fruits and vegetables all year round. If you are more the ready-made type the farm also has yummy products such as apple butter, caramel apples, and even frozen persimmon pulp!
Country Line Orchard (Hobart)
Just when you thought these apple orchards couldn’t get any better, Country Line Orchard has a Moo Choo. I know you are thinking, “what is a moo choo?” It is aptly a mini train powered by a tractor. Whoever named that attraction should receive a raise.
I don’t know about you, but I am ready to eat an apple or two at this point. So, get on out there and visit a local orchard!
