10 Stocking Stuffer Ideas for the Home Improvement DIYer in Your Life

Ah, it’s the holiday season once again. A time to gather with family and friends for a good meal and possibly exchange a gift or two. If you are one of those people that is extraordinarily creative at gift-giving… lucky you. Unfortunately, we can’t all relate. Since we are in the business of home improvement, we’ve compiled gift suggestions for the handyman (or woman) in your household. It probably seems like they already own every tool and gadget known to man, but hopefully, the list below will give you some ideas.

  1. Tape Measure. It might be one of the more basic items on our list, but don’t underestimate the usefulness of an extra tape measure around the house. You have one in the garage or toolbox.. then stash this one in a kitchen drawer or your vehicle (for measuring at the store or on the go). Tape measures tend to get misplaced or broken at the most inconvenient times, so, you really can’t have too many. There are plenty of under $20 options out there like this one.

  1. LED Headlamp Flashlight. Working around the house often means poking your head in dark, tight spaces. A hands-free flashlight is priceless in these cases. Nobody likes to be on their hands and knees in the crawlspace with a flashlight between their teeth. Bonus if your DIYer is also into hiking, camping, or cave exploring… this is great for that too!

  1. 6 in 1 Screwdriver. Anything with “6-in-1” in the title is obviously cool… and handy. How convenient to quickly change from flat head to Phillips and have 6 different screwdriver heads, all without carrying a bag of tools around? This one is sure to be a crowd-pleaser and get plenty of use.

  1. 6” Combination Square. If you’re shopping for a handyman or woman but don’t personally know an adjustable wrench from a pair of pliers… you might have to research exactly what this is. Trust us, it’s handy and your DIYer will be impressed that you slipped this in their stocking. Basically, it helps you line up and/or cut perfect angles. Super important for any big project. You can find one for under $10 here.

  1. Laser Level. This is another stocking stuffer idea that’s all about helping you get the straightest line. It can be more of a splurge item since some models can cost upwards of $100. For moderate use around the house, a model like this one will work just fine, at a more reasonable $15 price tag.

  1. Pocket Knife. Another basic but solid gift choice on the list. This one will get used almost immediately when someone needs a box opened or the crazy amount of plastic packaging taken off a new Christmas toy. Great to use as an everyday tool, and can also come in handy exploring the great outdoors or as part of a first aid kit. You can go with the basic, tried and true model… or even get one personalized.

  1. Duct Tape. Because it fixes everything. Seriously though. Don’t laugh. What better stocking stuffer is there? It will get used. Plus, it comes in all kinds of fun colors and designs.

  1. Bluetooth Headphones. This stocking stuffer idea needs little explanation as well. Everybody likes to tune out the world and get in the zone when working on any project around the house. You can’t have a cord getting in your way, but need something that stays in your ear. Try a pair that offers quality sound but won’t break the bank. DIY equals dust and dirt.. this isn’t the time to rock the designer headphones.

  1. Wool Socks. There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing. While we tend to disagree, that doesn’t change the fact that there will be outdoor projects that need to be completed in less than desirable temps. Even if that’s just shoveling the driveway, make sure your loved one has dressed appropriately in some 100% wool socks. They fit perfectly in any stocking!

  1. Magnetic Pickup Tool. This little gadget is both practical and sort of fun. There aren’t many things more frustrating than dropping a screw, bolt, or the like down a small space only to realize you have obnoxiously giant hands. It’s affordable, easy to store, and called the Mighty Worm…. So, why not?

Whether you’re looking for the new homeowner or experienced DIYer, this list should make shopping for that person in your life a little bit easier. Happy Shopping!
