There are many interesting sites in Denver and in Miami County. The International Circus Hall of Fame is located on the old circus winter quarters in Peru where circuses of the past wintered until they left in the spring for a new circus season. At Grissom Air Museum, visitors can learn about historic aircraft, climb the Observation Tower, view exciting exhibits, and enjoy a modern, hands-on facility. The Miami County Museum offers two floors of permanent exhibits including Cole Porter’s 1955 Cadillac Fleetwood.

Ole Olsen Memorial Theatre brings quality entertainment to Miami County. Rock Hollow Golf Club is one of the premier public tracks throughout the Midwest. It mixes old-growth forests with cattailed wetlands and a multitude of thoughtfully placed rocks to make each round a tough, yet fair challenge. Mississinewa Reservoir is 14,386 acres with a 3,210-acre lake. It offers a swimming beach, miles of hiking trails, and other amenities.

Stock car and drag racing lasts all summer long at one of Indiana’s oldest speedways,

Bunker Hill Dragstrip. Oak Hill Winery is a small winery located in a carriage house that was built in 1894.


Careers and Industry

Agriculture is a mainstay of Miami County's economy. The county is at the center of Indiana's northern agriculture and food corridor. Within a 100-mile radius of the county exists significant raw materials, processing plants, and distribution requirements. The Miami County region is also at the center of the northern Indiana livestock and processing corridor. While agriculture is a thriving industry, manufacturing is the most common industry in the area.

Denver is served by North Miami Schools, which includes an elementary school, a middle/high school, and a career center. North Miami Elementary School educators strive to prepare, inspire, and challenge students to become successful, contributing citizens of the world. The students learn the core subjects with a curriculum that is enhanced by the latest technology.

All elementary school students in Grades 3-6 are issued iPad minis they are allowed to take home. At North Miami Middle/High School, teachers and staff established a learning community that fosters excellence and teaches students essential skills needed for an ever-changing future. The students study a comprehensive curriculum with all students in the middle and high school receiving iPads to broaden their classroom instruction as well. Heartland Career Center is a special center that prepares students for careers after graduation.

There are numerous colleges and universities located within a 55-mile radius of Denver including several schools that have campuses in Fort Wayne. Two of the universities are Indiana Wesleyan University (Marion) and Taylor University (Upland). Purdue University’s main campus in Lafayette is also within close proximity to Denver.
