Things to Do

Zionsville Fall Fest

This is our second article in a month about things happening in Zionsville – quite impressive on Zionsville’s part if you ask me!  There is no doubt that Zionsville is the place to be and Zionsville Fall Festival perfectly exemplifies this sentiment. Zionsville Fall Festival is occurring September 7-9 at Lions Park.  We have included some more details about this cannot-miss event below.

What is the Zionsville Fall Festival you ask?  Well it is a fundraiser hosted by the Zionsville Lions Club.  The Fall Festival is their largest fundraiser of the year along with their Easter Egg Hunt and 4th of July Celebration.  All proceeds go to maintaining Lions Park.  This year’s theme is “Be A Superhero!” and activities include: amusement park rides, a parade, food, entertainment and much more!

The Fall Festival has been going on for over 60 years; as such, it has many time-honored traditions.  One of its most popular traditions is the Duck Race, where quite literally rubber ducks are raced against each other.  Only in America folks. Another tradition is the annual Miss Fall Festival’s Outstanding Teen Pageant. This year’s winner was Claire Nieshalla, a homeschooled senior from Zionsville.

Perhaps one of the best parts of the Fall Festival is its VIP Carnival for “Very Important People.” The VIP Carnival is for, “kids of all ages who have special needs, their families, and caregivers,” to have a fun FREE night out.  Activities for the evening include: carnival rides, carnival games, silly safari shows, train rides, dinner provided by Chick-fil-A, music, Pacers fan van, celebration central, balloon creations, and bounce houses. Wow – quite a lot of fun to be had!  The goal of the VIP Carnival is to, “provide families with members who have special needs a friendly environment where ‘kids can be kids’ and enjoy the tradition of American carnivals.” The VIP Carnival is sponsored by the HAWK Foundation and occurs this year on Friday (September 7) from 5:00-8:00pm.  More information can be found here on the Hawk Foundation’s website: https://www.thehawkfoundation.org/events/vip-carnival-tickets.

If you have gleaned anything from this article, I hope it is that the Fall Festival is one event you do not want to miss!  So, mark your calendars now for September 7-9. On Friday, the Fall Festival is open for all festival-goers from 6-11pm. On Saturday and Sunday, the Fall Festival runs from 10am-11:00pm and 11:00am-6:00pm, respectively.  See you there!
