The Greenwood Community School District consists of four elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school that look to welcome your child into a stimulating and caring academic and cultural atmosphere. All six schools are located in the southern Indianapolis suburban area of Greenwood and are easily accessible from most places in the community. Westwood Elementary

Receiving an “A” rating by the Indiana Department of Education, Westwood Elementary gives your child the perfect start in life by attending to each child personally and with great care. Parents frequently volunteer at the school and maintain a close relationship with the teachers and staff. It is the school’s philosophy that each child has a different style and pace of learning and each student is given the chance to fulfill their true academic and personal potential. Parents are always up-to-date with their child’s performance and have the chance to participate in the school’s busy life through different volunteer and charity projects.

 

Southwest Elementary

The school’s goals are based on achieving excellence in literacy, math, and behavior. The staff’s commitment to enhancing each child’s academic and emotional experience at the school is notable, and the entire community of students, parents, and teachers at Southwest Elementary feels like home. The school has recently been recognized by the Greenwood Public Library for its outstanding increase in the summer reading program. Various events and programs hold the interest of both parents and students, including the Jump Rope for Heart initiative and the ever-popular art club.

 

Northeast Elementary

Northeast Elementary houses approximately 540 students and has a student-teacher ratio of 17:1. This elementary school also has an outstanding special needs education program available to those students who qualify. Music and art programs are a regular part of the school curriculum.

 

Isom Elementary

The individual attention and deep care of the teachers and staff are truly felt at Isom Elementary. Each student receives equal opportunities to thrive, and integrity, attitude, and character are addressed with equal attention. An active PTO as well as a special organization called iMoms are regularly involved in the students’ academic and extracurricular activities. The school organizes a number of clubs, programs ,and initiatives for its students, such as the Pay it Forward kindness program, movie nights, Bible Club, etc.

 

Greenwood Middle School

The dedicated teachers, challenging curriculum, and the small-community feel make Greenwood Middle School a great school for your child. The school has been awarded a grade “B” by the Indiana Department of Education. There is an active PTO that regularly participates in the vibrant school life through volunteer projects. Sports are also a big part of the students’ development. Athletic opportunities include baseball, basketball, golf, cheerleading, dance, cross country, football, soccer, tennis, track and field, swimming and diving, volleyball, and wrestling.

 

Greenwood High School

Greenwood Community High School houses approximately 1,100 students and is a full-time, four-year comprehensive public school located in the southern Indianapolis suburb of  Greenwood. The school is built on a lasting tradition of academic excellence and has a rich program of extracurricular activities, including choir, various academic clubs, an award-winning marching band and others. Teachers and parents both enjoy getting involved in these activities as well as various fairs and programs the school puts on with the cooperation of local organizations. The school is equipped with an innovative media center, and technology is an integral part of the academic curriculum. Students can take advantage of modern sport facilities, such as a football and a soccer field, a tennis court, and a track. Greenwood High School, also known as the Woodmen, has a number of successful athletic teams in the following sports:
